Significant Investment Announced for Puerto Vallarta International Airport Expansion
The Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) has revealed a major investment plan to modernize and expand the Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta international airports over the next five years, with a total investment exceeding 26 billion pesos (around $1.3 billion USD).
Key Focus on Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta Airports
Among the total investment, the Guadalajara International Airport will receive the largest portion, with 22.377 billion pesos allocated for a comprehensive overhaul. However, Puerto Vallarta International Airport is also set to benefit from a substantial upgrade.
Puerto Vallarta will receive an investment of 3.6 billion pesos, which will primarily go towards expanding the current terminal. The expansion includes the construction of a new terminal building covering 74,000 square meters, significantly increasing capacity with 15 new aircraft gates. This expansion will result in a 134% increase in the airport’s terminal capacity, enabling it to better serve the growing number of tourists and passengers arriving in the region.
A Promising Future for Puerto Vallarta’s Tourism Industry
The investment in Puerto Vallarta’s airport comes as the region continues to experience a surge in tourism, attracting visitors from around the world. With the expanded terminal, the airport will be better equipped to handle this influx of travelers, offering enhanced services, a more comfortable experience, and a boost to the local economy.
This expansion aligns with the region’s ongoing efforts to improve its infrastructure and maintain its position as one of the leading tourist destinations in Mexico. As Puerto Vallarta continues to grow as a global tourism hub, this investment ensures that the airport remains capable of accommodating future demands.
